I've seen enough daisy chains of guilt by association in political orgs to think that maybe, at worst, these people are all just getting what they signed up for.

It is 100 percent plausible that "defending" means "not believing allegations against" and "a sex abuser" means "someone who's in my way." That's kind of a huge part of the problem with DSA. It's not that there's no rapists, I just have no confidence they get caught.

Social media games of telephone are definitely a factor in many of these cases. DSA-LA, an organization I have my share of disagreements with, was not some villainous den of "sex abusers" and perverts as you often hear from accounts like the above. 1/2

Look a few inches below the surface and you'll see that the account and many of those who orbit and reply to it often have weird, esoteric beefs with the org or individual chapters that have nothing to do with protecting people from "sex abusers." 2/2
