If the c19 spike protein is 'similar' (IIRC identical) to HIV then couldn't the mRNA vaccine, intended to train the immune system on the spike, possibly pull double duty?

Yeah, it's fantastic. With how slowly HIV spreads, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to kill it like we did smallpox.
