Rewatching Midsommar, I actually really appreciate it now. It indulges in its genre and the exploitation inherent to it much more than Aster’s previous film which was all “been there done that” illusions to 70’s psychological artsy horror dramas.

The director's cut is worse than theatrical because it's fairer to Dani and harsher on her bf. He should be kinda lame rather than almost villainous, it works better with that ambiguity.
