I was in a meeting recently to talk about the problem with judges delaying cases involving powerful corporations. I brought up the idea of having legislatures just write rules and deadlines for the judges, and the lawyers all started laughing at me. Judge worship is weird.
Not sure if that's worship or just typical lawyer cynicism. If anything, the decisive factor here is probably the court clerks more than even the judges.
