The reason “retarded” is the go-to edgy slur on here is because the only people who actually care about it are part of the weakest and most loathed groups in our society.

It’s funny how everyone who posts here is giving me a different answer. Anyways that’s definitely part of it, but it’s true about other slurs too and there are plenty of educated people on here saying “retard”.

I basically never used it back when it was ubiquitous, but now that everyone is making me think about it all the time the urge to hurl it at people who annoy me has become overwhelming.
