      House of Wax (2005) holds up. Still gratuitously gory. Solid chemistry between the leads; funny because they play opposite-gender fraternal twins. Music by Disturbed, MCR, Manson, Interpol, et al really gets you in the headspace to see Paris Hilton get impaled by a steel rod.

      About half of the contemporary reviews, positive or negative (tomatometer gives it a 26%) seem to mention that they liked seeing Hilton get murdered.

      Say what you will about the remake wave, some of the lesser movies nail their marks. Not sure I'd say the same about the midbudget PG-13s in the 2010s. Besides The Conjuring, you've got what, Ouija? Five nonconsecutive minutes of Sinister?
