No, but legacy admits are in a relatively small category of students applicable at a relatively small category of schools. This doesn’t account for middle and upper-middle class students who will outperform working class students. There’s simply too much that goes into the soup.

The Ivies have like 20% legacies per class. Add in affirmative action quotas (the size of which colleges will litigate extensively to prevent disclosing) and the space for merit is tiny and shrinking. Plus, the SAT might be the least class-biased qualification considered.
