I don’t think that aspect was as noticeable in the first season. Kind of tangential, but I always thought it was funny how Parks and Rec started out hating its characters even more than Arrested Development and turned into the twee-est thing on television.
I started PnR on season 2 on account of literally everyone saying season one was terrible.

Oh yeah it was garbage. Wouldn’t recommend. Interesting garbage though, especially when compared to the US version of the Office that went through the same growing pains.
