I dunno, my parents are liberal prots and I have foreign-adopted siblings, and we had other friends who did as well. Never sensed any weird politics in it. ACB is Catholic, also.

I mean I’m not condemning Christian adoption. And tbh my main issue with it is theological - as a Quaker I dislike the “adoption as proselytism” theology thats often entangled in it. Politically speaking though, the massive demand for adoption has produced trafficking in places.

Its all well and good to wanna take orphans and give them a better life. Nothing wrong with this- in fact its good. Another thing when adoption becomes theologically infused with mission and turned into a church planting / conversion opportunity. Though this issue is specific -
