In the first five years of the 2010s there were very few active authors on the left who were read as widely as David Graeber. We would be living in a different world without him.

Not necessarily a worse world, unfortunately. I still recommend his book on debt.

True, he was (knowingly or not) the champion of a class project that was rival to the interests of workers. On the other hand, he didn't mince words about what he believed and appeared to genuinely value social and historical inquiry.
