Either this is some kind of smallpox/anthrax level superbug that has adapted unheard of ways to preserve itself for long periods or the tests are detecting vast amounts of non-infectious particles

So does this invalidate estimates of spread? If so, has it been higher or lower than estimated? Or does a positive mean likely immunity? Or has this kind of test only been applied to determine cause of death & mortality rates? Sorry! I’m hopelessly dumb about immunology.

It just means that testing positive a month after symptoms start doesn't mean you're still transmissible.
