      You'd need a truly massive ship that can sustain a crew of probably hundreds. The trip is too long to send a skeleton crew like they did with the moon landing. I don't see strictly speaking why it can't be done but it's a huge investment for not a lot of return.

      Just curious - why do you need hundreds of crew? To populate a colony?

      And so that social subgroups can form. The figure I've seen is that it's a four year flight. Ten people can't get stuck together for a minimum of eight years and function as a unit.
