I did watch all the Nightmare on Elm Streets, Evil Dead, Catpenter and Cronenberg. The 70s is kind of a cutoff for me.

You look at something like The Exorcist or The Omen or Rosemary's Baby and to me both the 'fright' and the interest relies on an audience that has totally different anxieties. Something came together in the late 70s and the entire atmosphere changed

While I like those movies, the "fright" in this movie isn't abstract or societal. It's just fucking scary.
