I agree with your sentiment. Best part of this podcast was Aimee's story about based lebo dad. Localism is a slippery slope to liberalism. We need a vision,

The point of the episode was that constituency-building is always a local (and profoundly anti-universalist) affair. If you think this is somehow controversial or weird or stupid, that's because your interest in politics is purely theoretical. Fantasy football for leftists.

And at this point I am ready to throw my hands up and say "you win!" to any and all comers. I don't know the rules to fantasy football, or how to do it "correctly", or whatever. Fine. I'm really content with leaving the theoretical politics to leftists from now on.
