Gone Girl was rightly perceived as an attack on female virtue. It doesn't play at a subjective viewpoint - OP is simply mistaken or trolling. Midsommar on the other hand allows viewers to choose between tragic and comic interpretations. But there's a bait and s switch:

The comic interpretation appears at first as taking the side of the woman in the onscreen relationship as she comes to terms with its end. But it's actually identification with the cult in the direct and violent conflict between the cult and the outer world.

Essentially, it's the maximally insane conception of utopia that you can ascribe to someone without them taking offense - a portrait of the awokening that everyone can agree is basically accurate as to the goals and prospective methods of the moment.
