I don't know of any particular incidents involving 'average protesters' that would allow me to form a coherent narrative of exactly what rights are being violated here.
I haven't seen cops beating and tear gassing protesters in places where the gas weapons are illegal and the victim seems to not be a threat by any standards?
I've seen them disperse crowds with tear gas, yes. Tear gas isn't particularly dangerous unless you aim the canister at a person, which I have not seen federal forces reported to do.
