I'm not the biggest fan of masto but at some point all the non-NPCs will have to warehouse themselves there.

It's very easy to set up a Twitter clone. Doesn't necessarily have to be Mastodon. But getting people to move over, or even just use the new service in addition to the old one, is a task.
Thankfully the good denizens of Twitter are doing their level best to ensure nobody will have to use two platforms at the same time
