Computers are one thing. Having a device in your pocket your whole life is different. I didn’t have a cell phone until middle school and it was a relatively shitty flip phone.
On the other hand having incomprehensible ICQ chat hookups under the pretense of being a teenage girl was just a fun sleepover prank with the boys and if you called someone the n word online the worst possible outcome is the principal found out
