It sounds like you might have an issue with the letter itself that you're deflecting onto its signatories in a weak gotcha. That isn't surprising. What brave stand has Wynton Marsalis failed to take, and why would it have been best for him to ruin himself for it individually?

Anyway I haven't read the letter but my problem with this discourse generally is that it wants to conflate laws restricting speech, getting people fired, etc, with calling David Brooks an imbecile or not pretending the NYT editorial page is an open forum.
