I've decided to extend my reporting trip nationwide because there's such a massive, gaping disparity between how the US media has covered recent events and how normal people are processing them, and I have zero faith that anyone else is going to properly elucidate this disparity

With the support of all you fine benefactors, I can't be "canceled," despite the best efforts of people like Nikole Hannah-Jones and others. That's what herd-minded media elites hate the most: when they can't exert power and control over those who challenge their orthodoxies

Also want to encourage all my kind benefactors to watch this video from today -- it was unusually illuminating, and deceptively relevant to current political happenings:https://youtu.be/r57wGbiK3U8

Why is the national media hardly covering this? (See thread.) There are a variety of potential explanations. All I know is the disparity between elite opinion and normal person opinion right now may even dwarf 2016, and I didn’t think that was possible. Hence, I need your supporthttps://twitter.com/mtracey/status/1277339435257024516 …

Thank you very much to everyone who contributed today. Can't thank all of you individually. Will put it to good use! (Your kind-hearted generosity also enables me not to have to do these semi-annoying solicitations too often)

I've gotten literally hundreds of tweets and emails from people who are shocked that they haven't seen any of these images/stories anywhere else. Forget ideological considerations: just from a pure journalistic perspective, it's obviously hugely significant. Media malpracticehttps://twitter.com/mtracey/status/1277339435257024516 …

Wouldn't you expect a flood of CNN/NYT/magazine human interest stories about these devastated minority small business owners, who feared for their lives, and how they are dealing with the aftermath of historic riots? How it will affect the city long-term, etc.? What's the deal?

Journalists at elite institutions are so preoccupied with their neurosis-fueled internal revolts and Human Resources melodramas that they have largely neglected this massive story, right under their noses. (Many also believe that covering it properly would somehow “help Trump”)

They're not distracted. The war aim of the revolutionaries was to prevent them from covering the destruction in the first place, and they won.
