There has been no update on Slate Star Codex/Times, right? As of now they're still planning on naming him, but his taking down the site has complicated things?

I would assume as of now they're planning to scrap the story and never address the issue publicly.
I'm not sure they have that option - they wouldn't have five years ago, but then would they have planned on naming him in the first place?

Other media outlets are supposed to cover stuff like this. It appears to be a breach of journalistic ethics. The only way they wouldn't is 1) industry solidarity 2) they agree with the decision. All of these papers are drowning so it's hard to belive solidarity would prevent it.
