I was gungho to join the Marines in my early 20s; duty, country all that (and dudes being guys/ a direction/career) and i wanted to die inside when i found out they make you listen to that at the conclusion of the crucible
I'm all in favor of getting rid of The Star Spangled Banner but only if we replace it with Lee Greenwood - God Bless the USA, the only American patriotic song with a decent melody
