My problem with both the left/lib alliance and the left/right alliance is that both center the culture war, and therefore both movements can be bought off by cultural concessions The left/right project doesn't get out of this problem, it just replicates it in a different way
And we can no longer 'both sides' the culture war, it isn't tenable. There's a clear loser and a clear winner here and what the new new left sees as "the right" is the entirety of the ancien regime including presumption of innocence and freedom of expression.
