White Fragility is such an interesting case study in elite social programming. It's obvious the author's mental framework derives from research on cults and religions. The crux of her argument is that natural reactions to being criticized are proof that the criticisms are true.
There are three kinds of people who read about cults: those who say "that could never happen to me," those who say "dear God I hope that never happens to me" and those who say "how can I get a piece of this action"
