Funny to see this turn from you but it makes sense. Sweden's tactic turned out to be quite clever, given that other major countries were hit earlier: they figured mostly correctly that their citizens would learn from the intensive measures in other places.

Our government and media is telling us that we're going to hit 20 percent unemployment by mid year, when the benefits run out for people who lost their jobs in March. Our senators are mulling over the appropriate size of the tax deduction. Lines for food shelves are miles long.
Your government may not have shrugged and said "huh, that sucks for you guys" but that's exactly what the US did.
