these people always love phonebanking. I haven't done it or been subject to it – is it fair to say that phonebanking is like telemarketing, ie. a nuisance to people and largely ineffective?
It seems like it would be good for gathering intel for internal campaign use but bad at turning out votes.

In fact it's exactly the kind of garbage job you should pay people to do, considering what you're really after is the resulting excel spreadsheet and not the money or votes of the people contacted.

The Bernie theory, at least the one they told their volunteers, involved contacting voters to improve their perception of Sanders, but there was a huge emphasis on tracking everything. When I did it on a local campaign as a teenager it was all about taking peoples' temps.
