I take his work with a grain of salt but at least it's good as the maximalist iteration of a certain strain of left thought? I don't know if I have faith in the underlying impulse anymore but he is at minimum entertaining

I think his books on Liberalism and his defense of the Revolutionary Tradition against the Revisionists (like Francois Furet) to be extraordinary works personally. But yeah his Stalinism is whack though I’ve been meaning to read his book on Stalin.
