Here's something I don't hear asked enough: is there any compelling reason to believe that smart but extremely judgmental and socially domineering people deserve to run the world? Is there a rational argument for believing this to be the case?
I guess the question is how do you prevent it. These people's natural habitat is sitting on a tribunal. It's like the cops: if you get rid of them, you're left with a bunch of people who either don't want to do the job or wouldn't have otherwise qualified.
