Question for Experts: What is the obstacle to cloning antibodies at sufficient scale to give everyone a shot of extra COVID-19 immunity? Is it an equipment shortage, red tape, funding issue, or what? Antibodies exist and cloning is current technology. What's the holdup?
Skimming the wiki page makes it look like a combination of equipment and 'red tape' given the number of steps it takes to culture and purify the antibodies. I get that it's an emergency but population-level measures do require extra safety precautions, see also thalidomide.
