She’s right but it’s still not a great one. We really fucked up there and should probably just steal a word from another language at this point.
There's no real need to distinguish between number in second person pronouns, Germans do just fine with the even more confusing homonym for "you" and "they"

If you’re talking to a group of people I really feel like “you” just doesn’t cut it because it sounds like you’re singling someone out. I grew up saying “y’all” and “you guys” though, so maybe that’s just my prejudice.
