      The problem with all these theories is that Trump completely abandoned "economic populism" when he got into office and still remains wildly popular so why is anyone taking this week's Pat Buchanan at their word on that stuff

      So they either do exactly the same thing they're doing now, which is bipartisan and free from democratic constraint, or someone puts up token resistance to check the temp on conservative populism and see if that's a viable avenue for "people power." Where's the lose here

          Or to put it another way I think people believe it because it would be nice if it happened, not because they've examined the facts and come to the rational conclusion it is likely to be fruitful.
