American Sniper was a bad, offensive movie that has really tarnished Eastwood's legacy.

Whatever man. Chris Kyle was a bad person and the movie made him out to be a hero.

When people with accurate political opinions are wrong about art, they're sometimes devilishly wrong. I respect the hell out of Matt Taibbi, but the stuff he talked about American Sniper was madness.

Pretty much every war movie about the US that isn't WWII or the Civil War has to have "this is bad" in big bold letters on the screen now or else the viewer doesn't know when something is bad. See also Sicario

Iraq would be the perfect war for a truly vicious satire but I can't think of any American who could make it. Sad, when we made Strangelove. There's a moment in Platoon where Dafoe goes "we're gonna lose this war." But you couldn't even do that in Iraq. There was no win state.
