To my knowledge they've found one functional mutation so far, ie a single changed protein, and it's too early to know if that has any effect. I'd be more worried about other CoVs popping up. What if MERS broke out in Saudi Arabia right now?

previous MERS or MERS-like exposure might've partly explained the (reported but not confirmed?) exceptional problem it poses/d in Iran. SA and some of the Arab states idk because they have American+ levels of diabetes there already
