That's baked into the insidiousness of the disease. Some sort of asymptomatic spread is essentially a necessary prerequisite for a pandemic of this scale. Ebola and SARS don't do this, so they tend to stay put and mainly threaten hospitals.
That said I would say we have learned that NYC probably wouldn't be able to control an outbreak of SARS Classic so, uh.
