I still think wildlife market is a more likely explanation but you cannot readily dismiss the presence of a virus lab doing coronavirus research in the epicenter of the outbreak. You wouldn't exempt the CDC from suspicion if there was a smallpox epidemic in Atlanta.

I don't know anything about viruses, but is 2 weeks of being asymptomatic but infectious something to be expected? If I was engineering a virus as a bioweapon that's the first thing I'd do

That's baked into the insidiousness of the disease. Some sort of asymptomatic spread is essentially a necessary prerequisite for a pandemic of this scale. Ebola and SARS don't do this, so they tend to stay put and mainly threaten hospitals.
