      It's crazy to watch people make the argument that the models were wrong and the experts overreacted when the bulk of the evidence we've gotten over the past few weeks suggests the virus might be *more* deadly and *more* transmissable than we thought.

      I can't tell you if things are going better or worse than I'd expect because I don't know what the path out of lockdown is. The virus is roughly the same: calamitous if not controlled, but controllable.

      My latest wtf is people who think lockdown ends when the infection trends down when they're looking at a log scale. I'm talking people who are used to looking at data....it's like they're hit on the head or hypnotized. I'm drowning here.

      The best thing that could happen to educate people is a expansion of that phone game pandemic where you fuck around and try to keep the economy going. Survival is the goal but how do you manage recovery. Open the travel bans, fuck around and see what happens.

      National security has never been a big issue for the federal government. They were as surprised as anyone else how bad that Hitler guy turned out to have been. To them he was just a particularly enthusiastic IBM and DuPont customer.
