It's silly when you do it with issues of day-to-day governance but our stories are obsessed with the righteous war. Why abandon them when we finally get one?
I think fiction, even popular media, is a good way to explain an event like this to the public. What better analogy for the virus than Thanos, or the Night's Watch for emergency medicine?
