The meetings were privileged but the underlying information was mostly available to the public - what was missing was a very depressing number we still don't have, the total supply of ventilators and ECMO.

Without that number, we may be off by a few thousand either way in terms of how many Americans will die. But the numbers those senators heard were almost certainly in the millions.
