Part of the reason I am frustrated by lefties now saying they won't vote for Biden is it... wasn't close? I'm very unhappy with the result but Sanders got trounced. This cannot be explained by rigging or corruption or anything else. He hit a brick wall and his campaign failed.

2/ I overestimated Sanders' chances. Clearly, the campaign itself had a turnout theory that didn't end up working in reality. People who want a Bernean president should figure out what happened and work on convincing more Dem voters. But again: In key states, this wasn't close.

3/ I just want to emphasize how unhappy I am Biden is the guy. Even if it had to be a more moderate candidate, I can't believe it's him who survived the process. But that's a different question from whether voters to the left of Biden should enter Burn It All mode...

Nothing to burn, man. Sanders 2020 is Occupy, ANSWER, "Seattle." Just another abortive attempt to lash the interests of academics and journalists to those of the working class.

I am confident that within 5 minutes of conversation, assuming good faith ,I can get his supporters to admit that: 1, his policies are secondary to their view of him as a person, 2, following that admission, that they don’t see a realistic chance of his proposals becoming law.

In his best moments that wasn't what Bernie was about at all. 2016, for instance. Making the law would have meant remaking the government. He bought into a protection racket for 2020 and followed Corbyn off the cliff.

What is the protection racket referencing?

The DSA's poisonous organizer cliques and their petty personal drama disguised as high-minded and rigorous ethics. The 'socially liberal' wing are all fiscally conservative. They made Bernie promise open borders.

So if 2016 Bernie were to run, you foresee a substantially different outcome? In my opinion he just never had the numbers and the primitive but undeniable recognition factor needed to pad your turnout when the steam of the “movement” runs out. He just never had that substrate.

I think he could have but also Trump winning took some of the wind out of the sails for that.
