As of this writing, bats and pangolins are the two main candidates for the zoonotic origin of SARS-CoV-2 and it's interesting to see who picks which animal as their preferred vector.
Environmentalists, conservationists and tree huggers tend to go with pangolin to emphasize the destructive effects of poaching (poaching: remember the 90s?) whereas bat is a conservative explanation which pins the blame on culturally specific culinary practices
