Honestly the media needs to be far far far more alarmist than they are being. People need to be panicking and afraid to leave their homes. That's the only way public officials will feel they can close bars, restaurants, etc.

Panic is defined as the absence of rationality. The people I know that are responsible and isolate socially as much as possible are worried, but not panicking.

Right. So there's actually no risk of panic at all, right? If anything the people panicking are the ones rushing out to Costco thinking they'll be starved in quarantine.
