THREAD: NY will remain perhaps the only big city school system to stay open after sustained community transmission has been identified in city limits. LA, SF, Chicago, Philly school systems are all closing. So are private NYC schools. Only public NYC schools are being kept open.

These are very hard decisions. New York is considering social factors at play, including the burden on families when public schools close. But we must also consider the opposite burden; that decisions like these create risk of spread that begins to cluster by soceioeconooic lines

As efforts aimed at social distancing, to break transmission, become widespread; these opportunities to improve your safety are not being evenly afforded. Office workers have more chance to telework than manual workers; and private schools close while public schools stay open.
