I don’t see how Studebaker’s posts either contradict or preclude that critique.
He's saying there that even if people could band together to contain this on their own it would be worse than using the disease to kill millions and maim millions more.

I'm not sure if he really understands what it's like to die of this. There's no dying in each other's arms. You will be laid out on the floor unable to move and gasping for every breath as your lungs fill with fluid after you've watched your parents die the same way.
