      i’m not convinced about the masks. But obviously, rapid and routine testing and contact tracking ought to have been initiated months ago.

      Yeah the mask thing is my only quirk with the broad expert consensus, it's up for real debate. It was considered after SARS and the consensus was it was a cultural thing. The main problem was the test kits and the delay in updates testing standards.

      Masks only work for a short while. The WHO does not recommend it for the general population because you will have to change it often. In hospitals you can’t actually just wear one all day.

      It doesn't matter if you have to change it often, as long as you can. In the middle of a pandemic you want to stay in as much as possible. But certain risk areas like public transport and retail? Dude.

      It does matter. It works for a short time & then after that when it stops working it actually makes transmission more likely because you are more likely to touch your face and adjust the mask and the barrier is no longer functioning. No health agency recommends it for daily use.

          It is a deeply ingrained cultural practice but there is no published scientific evidence that they work effectively. But yeah it’s possible that the WHO, NHS, and CDC are all idiots or lying.
