Neoliberal politicians promised the retreat of the state from private matters would deliver society from the control of bureaucracies, which do not work, into the hands of an efficient market. We now see the result: a society where nothing, government or market, works at all.

The disastrous US response to coronavirus is not a "failure". It is the natural outcome of a diabolic program. America's political leaders and business leaders have conspired to reduced any institution that could have prevented this to rubble. Now we face the consequences.
