The 1% death rate is only if you can take care of everybody. We don't know how many in the general population will need oxygen if they get this, but it could be in the millions. Do we have millions of tanks of compressed oxygen?

There are three levels of treatment so far. Pills we suspect work. Right now those are being started too late. Oxygen tank. Good few of those. Respirators. Not many, you need training, and the docs that run them die of the disease. After people recover we'll have plasma.
