I've been having a lot of cognitive dissonance around how many things I studied in history that I never believed I'd experience myself coming to pass.

I mean, currently I keep thinking of times of plague, & how there used to be people who would push a cart through the streets crying "Bring out your dead." & I never *ever* thought I would live in a time when something like that might turn into anything like a reality for me.

Apparently that happened as recently as the 1918 Spanish influenza (since it could kill in hours). Learned that last week, and kind of regret it now.

Spanish Flu is an incredible historical event. It passed through like a ghost in the night. Media kept it quiet and it was ultimately rolled into the many horrors of WWI by the history books, almost as a footnote. It killed millions and we barely remembered it before last week
