Sincere question for Bernie supporters. Do you think you were well-served by the Bernie social media echo chamber, where podcasters, YouTubers, and Twitter personalities triumphantly declared Bernie Will Win and never had a critical thing to say about the campaign's strategy?

In defence of a fair few people I think nobody foresaw the tenacity and unscrupulousness of the Democratic establishment. It’s a tough but probably invaluable lesson for generations of activists who will undoubtedly reshape America.

It's not true that "nobody foresaw that," and the atrophy of Bernie's support among critical demographics cannot be exclusively blamed on the Democratic establishment. It's a failure of the Left.

It’s one thing to apprehend another to comprehend. Nobody had seen former, at least in UK there was memory of anti-left push in 80s. Was a machine built to deal with that? Doesn’t look like it, no.

Bernie's campaign had an astronomical amount of money -- like, historic levels. Far more than Biden. They had a candidate with universal name recognition, who won 46% of delegates in 2016 and never stopped running for president. They had four years to plan. Yes, I am blaming them

He spent 4 years becoming too radical looking for some and reinforcing establishment crap like Russia-gate at the same time. He and his team also had zero message discipline and kept talking about expanding the electorate but had no real message to talk to ordinary workers.

he spent four years letting his campaign be captured by the most fiery and radical faction of his base. four years walking away from the plain spoken populism that was the source of his strength and adpoting the language of internationalist socialism

Those guys aren't fiery and radical, is the problem. Bernie himself can certainly see this. He decided to follow Corbyn down the PC path and it turns out working class voters don't give a shit about anything but immigration and trade, oops! Time to read settlers and start a cult
