Should I just avoid dubs in pretty much every scenario?
The Disney Ghibli dubs are good. It's less of a big deal now that we don't have 4kids recutting everything to 'localize.'

i think it's generally a budget thing, Disney would have a shitload more experience with actually having the resources to direct voice actors than whoever puts together some niche dub nobody's going to watch

True but there's a regular VA stable as well who now have extensive experience
