Yep. The left was doomed to die either now, or in half a year, or two years. It happened quickly instead of slowly. From now on, the left will simply not have a leg to stand on in their attempts to stop the big ol meanie "redbrowns". They have a date with the dustbin of history.
You could have said that after Seattle, or the antiwar movement, or Occupy. The perverse appeal of the whole mess is that it's always losing so you never have to worry about following through.

Eh. You could've, but there was still hope back then. Now the energy is spent. Everyone knows it. Besides, we don't need a *dead* left. We can help it along the way, if needs must. We just need it to be weak enough to permit the killing blow.
