More or less all modern leftist analysis fundamental misunderstands the global economy. It usually boils down to a recapitulation of the old line of Western economies driven by resource extraction from poor countries, transposing the mechanics of the colonial era onto today.
I'm not really a fan of Lenin as a theorist but his writings are so historically specific that it's a moot point - you're not going to draw anything directly out of them that affects strategy today. So for MLs the question should be who is doing the Lenin exegesis for you

There's this problem with Maoists that none of them ever call themselves Maoists. They spend a ton of time awkwardly making fun of those who do for saying the quiet part loud - Greaves, Unruhe, Red Guards etc. But then they turn around and act on the same assumptions.
